Hello!

Posted by Vicky Emmons on August 14, 2022

I'm so excited to be welcoming you all to Story Imagin-ory Melton and Rutland. I am Vicky class leader and owner.

When I left school at 16 I went to college and completed a Years course of Business Administration. I was all set to continue within that same path when I went to work at a local nursery through the summer holidays. I really enjoyed it, I'm a caring and creative person by nature and seem to just fit well within the environment. I then completed my NVQ level 3 over the coming years to become a qualified nursery nurse.

Once I find something I enjoy, that's me engaged and constantly wanting to evolve over the next 9 years I worked for the same company completing my Level 4 qualification and working into different levels ending as a Nursery Manager. From here, I then went to work abroad where I believe I learnt the core of my knowledge.

It's not quite as easy as just being in a warm country, entertaining children. I worked for a large Tour Operator, this job combined the creative freedom with sessions we offered as well as the opportunity to level up with your role.

My favourite sessions were always Pirates Adventure, Choc-o-lot Party and Halloween Specials. We had to set the scene, create an atmosphere for the children to walk into, become a Pirate for 2 hours, take them on an adventure.

On return to the UK I did a few temporary jobs including Maternity Cover for a Franchise of Childcare Recruitment, from this I went to become a Full-Time Nanny, in childcare you become attached to children but these children will forever have an imprint on my heart and I hope on theirs too.

If you've got this far your probably wondering why I'm telling you all this.

It's because of all these experiences and amazing opportunities has led me to this point today where I've now invested in the Franchise for Melton and Rutland and couldn't be prouder to be saying this.

From the first time I read over the Franchise pack Freya sent out, I knew she was a person who like me put her all into everything, I not only believed everything I was seeing, I wanted to be a part of it. I kept putting it too one side, and thought it's too late now in life to create something like this for myself. I'd been given some holiday cover within a local nursery owned by a friend I'd worked with many years ago.

I decided to meet with Freya. You know when you instantly talk to someone you just know, my heart invested that day into Story Imagin-ory I just needed to take time and be sure it was for me, I'm know for jumping feet first! I knew from Nannying that the area needed some more groups and it would be welcomed by families.

I went to watch both Freya and Sam in action and it was amazing to see how they created a session that was filled with so much, BSL, songs, story sacks and the immersive story telling. It only confirmed everything, I wanted to and needed to be a part of it.

I knew there was a reason I got a "B" in my GCSE performing arts. It was to become a Story Teller.

You always hear me before you see me, singing a song, humming a tune. I am no means a professional singer but what I promise to bring to each and every Story Imagin-ory Class is joy, fun and energy.

I hope to see you there! Any questions I'm always happy to help. x
